Implementing Campaign Manager - Pentaho Data Integration (Kettle)

Terminology Used In Integrations

A list of some commonly used terminology in Campaign Manager and Kettle integrations.

Transformation (.ktr file) - a Pentaho Kettle process that carries out a particular action or series of actions on a file, for example, Change delimiter. Campaigns can be configured to trigger and run a Kettle transformation.

Job (.kjb file) - a Pentaho Kettle process that groups a number of transformations together to perform more like an end-to-end process. Note that one job can have many transformations and that transformations can be re-used in many jobs. Campaigns can be configured to trigger and run a Kettle transformation.

Parameter - a definition of a data object in a Kettle transformation or job.

Plugin - an installed Java component that appears in the job or transformation. By default Kettle comes with a large number of plugins, and it is possible to create and add your own.

Note: Campaign Manager integration allows transformations or jobs to be configured, but only one item can be processed by a tactic. A single primary job would be called that would in turn run any child transformation that does not need to be configured in the Admin UI.
